On Tuesday, February 13th 2001 the Town of Colonie Planning Board held a regular meeting. The main item on the agenda was to discuss and field questions from the general public on the conceptual plan for Phase 4 of the Archmont Knolls subdivision. At that time, there were a number of issues of concern raised by Archmont Knolls residents and from members of the surrounding community.

In order to ensure that these issues will be addressed with appropriate changes made to the finalized plans, letters & phone calls need to be made and Town of Colonie Planning Planning board meetings need to be attended. To allow residents an opportunity to know the issues, to know when meetings are going to be held, and to know who to address your letters and phone calls to, the residents of Archmont Knolls have developed this  website.

Below are the issues that were brought up at the Town meeting:

• The existing 30 inch trunk storm sewer has been inadequately sized. Three times since it. s installation, severe rain conditions have caused it to back up;

• The proposed sanitary sewer truss (sewer bridge) with a 30 foot elevation across the creek is a safety hazard for children. Also, the conceptual plan calls for an eight inch pipe that has the potential to freeze.

• The proposed storm sewers appear to be undersized. CT Male needs to redo their runoff calculations.

• The potential for increased traffic on the side streets now that Verdun and Marne are being extended. Members of the community are concerned about the longer straight-a-ways being created. Residents called for a traffic study and an evaluation for additional stop signs. Concerns were also raised about possible future connections to Route 2.

• Homeowners along Haswell Road are concerned what Micheli Construction, in conjunction with Kruegler Farms, will do with the remaining Archmont property behind their homes.

• Currently, there is no way to access the Town open space Parkland for hiking; a proposal for Mr. Michelli to open up one of the paper roads in the development so people can access this land was suggested.

• A homeowner that lives immediately across the street from where the proposed "Northern Boulevard" will open to Haswell feels the new road will create unacceptable traffic conditions for his home and driveway.

• A request was made wanting the Town of Colonie request construction trucks and other vehicles related to Phase 4 use the new access road Northern Blvd. instead of going through the development.
